Nearly all of the RIVERS group has been from Alabama. Starting with Joel and his son Mason Rivers, both of whom were signatories (No 104 and 194) to the Oct, 1817 petition to Congress to prevent Mississippi from extending its boundary into Alabama territory, thus starting the process whereby Alabama became a State in 1818. They were from Clarke and Monroe Counties and their surrounding areas.
